About
Versatility is perhaps the best way to describe musician Bobby Fisco, who enjoys success as a trombonist, arranger, and teacher.
Bobby’s passion for music, ignited by hearing a brass quintet in 2008, came full circle in 2018 when he co-founded Chautauqua Brass. The 4-to-6-member chamber ensemble is as comfortable on stage performing on concert series’ as they are in the classroom engaging and sharing with the next generation. In addition to playing both tenor and alto trombone in the group, Bobby’s arrangements make up the vast selection of Chautauqua Brass’ music library. Chautauqua Brass is not the sole reason Bobby moved to Dunkirk, NY, where he resides now. He is also a Clinician for Musician’s Wellness of North America (MWNA) where he assists in the retraining of musicians afflicted with Task-Specific Focal Dystonia. Having first-hand experience with this learned movement disorder, Bobby fully retrained with Jan Kagarice at MWNA and has again come full circle to be part of the solution for Musician’s Dystonia. He has assisted in the retraining of professionals, pre-professionals, and hobbyists. Bobby has held the title of “group arranger” for many ensembles he has performed with. In fact, he began writing out music he and his friends liked since first starting to play in middle school! His arrangements span many styles, from classical to popular to jazz, and he has tailored arrangements specifically for ensembles to interact with their audiences. His arrangements have been heard internationally on educational engagement programs, weddings, and receptions of all kinds in addition to traditional recitals, programs, and concert series. He has arrangements published and available to purchase through Cherry Classics and Sheet Music Plus. Before setting up residence in New York, Bobby shared the stage with wonderful colleagues as a member of the Eastern Music Festival, Miami Summer Music Festival, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, and Contemporary Youth Orchestra. Excited by collaboration, Bobby has considered it an honor to have performed side-by-side with members of The Cleveland Orchestra, Fall Out Boy, and Jefferson Starship. He has also been featured as a soloist in front of orchestra, wind ensemble, and jazz ensemble. Bobby has had the privilege to study with Ed Zadrozny, Jan Kagarice, Peter Sullivan, Jaime Morales-Matos, and Bill Cox. He holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University (Masters of Music, Trombone Performance) and Miami University (Bachelors of Music, Trombone Performance, Arts Management minor). When Bobby is not performing, arranging, or teaching, he likes to go out swing dancing or stay in with a good book or movie. |
